Professional faith-supportive counseling for couples, men, women, children and families.

Who we are

At our core, we are faith-supportive counselors dedicated to holistic healing. We believe that each person is a unique blend of mind, body, emotions, and spirit, and that true healing happens when all aspects of a person are nurtured.

We build relationships with our clients grounded in mutual respect, trust, and safety. We understand that brokenness and trauma, often rooted in relationships, can only be healed through authentic connection. Our aim is to provide a safe space where our clients can feel seen, heard, and supported.

We recognize that humans are designed for meaningful connection. While relationships can be messy, our work focuses on helping clients navigate conflict, emphasizing forgiveness, restoration, and redemption. We walk alongside you as you work through these challenges, fostering personal growth and healing.

Our team values hard work and resilience. Each of our counselors has faced personal challenges and triumphs and has undergone a journey of healing. We are committed to offering the gifts and wisdom we’ve gained from our own experiences to help you break free from the struggles that hinder your well-being.

Our ultimate goal is for you to feel understood in your unique story, to embrace your brokenness in a safe and supportive environment, and to move beyond distractions, numbing, and addictive behaviors to live fully in the present.

Our Story

Wes and Kimberly met in 1993 at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Deerfield, IL) while both pursuing master’s degrees in counseling. From the start, Wes knew he wanted to spend his life with Kimberly. It took Kimberly a little longer to come to the same realization, but after his charming persistence, she did—and together, they built a life filled with love, resilience, and purpose.

Over the years, they’ve raised four children into adulthood, navigated life’s many ups and downs, and supported each other through seasons of growth and loss.

Their careers began in child welfare, juvenile justice, and in-home counseling in Palm Beach County, FL—Kimberly’s hometown. In 2003, they moved to Green Bay, shifting their focus to outpatient counseling, where they’ve been dedicated to serving the community ever since.

In 2021, after the passing of Kimberly’s mother, she took a leap of faith and founded Johnson Counseling LLC, turning a lifelong dream into reality. Sometimes, grief breaks us open in ways we never expect—propelling us toward long-held aspirations with new urgency.

At Johnson Counseling, that journey continues—offering compassionate, expert care to those seeking healing, connection, and transformation.

Meet the counselors

  • Kimberly Johnson, LPC (WI), LMHC (FL)

    Owner/Counselor

Kimberly has a passion for working with couples, women, families, and children, particularly children from hard places with traumatic experiences. She is a relational therapist and believes that therapy is a holistic way to help others understand how their inner lives (spiritual, mental, and emotional) and their outer selves (physical, body sensations, and behavior) work together and affect interpersonal relationships. Kimberly loves art, theatre, stories, and spending every single moment she can in the sun.

  • Wes Johnson, LPC (WI), LMHC (FL)

    Owner/Counselor

Wes has a special focus on working with men that may have tried counseling in the past and felt like it was not for them. Many men feel inadequate in counseling and he works to affirm their masculinity, their leadership, and their passions. It is powerful when a man gets traction over his anger, his addictions, or his passivity. Wes will set tangible goals that make sense and then support and guide his clients as they implement change. Women also benefit from working with Wes as it may give them a fresh perspective on their partner or other male figures in their lives. Wes enjoys classic rock, country music, video gaming and visiting Nashville and the Carolina coast.

  • Carrie Zaidel, LPC

    Counselor

Carrie works with women, couples, and youth over the age of 12. Her experience serving in the military and being wife to a firefighter/paramedic puts her in a unique position to serve veterans, active duty, and reservists, as well as public safety professionals.

  • Dawn Vardis, LPC (WI)

    Counselor

Dawn works with women, men, and youth of most ages.  She is intensively trained in DBT and prolonged exposure.  Dawn is a mother of three and a grandmother of 4, and absolutely loves spending time with her family.  She is an Air Force veteran and the daughter of an Army veteran.  Dawn feels passionate about bringing healing to her community and works hard to offer tools and compassion to her clients that will assist in that healing process.
